Central Iowa Audio Video owner Derek Bjelland has worked with professional audio visual equipment for the past 28 years in a variety of capacities including church audio and video, single and multi-camera video recording, multi track audio recording and mixing, live sound reinforcement, neatwork and audio visual installs and service.  In my 28 years of experience I have worked on everything from small Sunday school classes and church services to large scale productions in some of the best performing arts and conference venues in the united States.  From 2000-2003 I studied Electronic Media Production at the University of Northern Iowa where I learned how to record edit and produce videos, record edit and produce single and multitrack audio as well as design websites.

While attending UNI I was employed by the Gallagher Bluedorn Performing arts center as a stage hand and assistant to the audio engineer.  In this role I worked with a variety of different shows from UNI school of Music to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Symphony as well as Broadway musicals and national touring acts.

In the fall of 2007 I returned to school to prsue a Masters degree in Education with an emphasis in Curriculum and Instructional Technology from Iowa State University.  Upon completing my masters degree in the fall of 2013 I began to think about what could I offer with my knowledge and my skills that would benefit the world around me.  This is when I decided to begin working more extensively with audio visual technology and continue my goal of life long learning.    Now having the ability to design and set up many different types of audio visual systems I have found what I enjoy.  In 2016 I began volunteering to work with AE Global Media of Charlotte North Carolina at the Worship Facilities Confrence and Expo now called the Church Facilities Confrence and Expo.  In the past 28 years I have seen technology change dramatically and have done my best to keep up with the changes. As a result Central Iowa Audio Video is well positioned to help you with your audio visual needs.
